Balancing Work and Family

Going from being a full time Mom to working has been a huge change over the past 5 years. I have been able to balance my work life and my personal life by using some of the tips below.

Work smarter. What kind of person are you? Are you a morning person or do you do your best work at night? If you get more done in the morning, perhaps you should focus on the important tasks earlier in the day while you are bright eyed and bushy tailed! If you are a night owl, you could use this time to plan the next day. I do most of my creative work in the morning because that's when I feel most productive. This helps me get my important tasks completed while my brain is “wide awake”.

Skip going out to lunch. This will save you time and MONEY and can be much healthier, as long as you remember to “pack healthy”.
Get away from your desk. Get up and get away from that desk, whether at home or at work, and give yourself a break! Spend a little time reading a book or taking a walk. It’s a great way to re-fuel your mind and body at the same time.

Reserve the weekends for the family. Family is so important and they are, after all, the reason you work! Make sure family is your number one priority on your days off and let business take a back seat for that time. Although this can be difficult for most business owners, it is essential for a good rounded life.

Plan your week. By planning your home week and your work week you can stay organized, accomplish more and prioritize better. Spending 15 minutes in the morning, or the night before, going over a plan of action for the next day can put you on the track for a success.

I LOVE my job at TMC and I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else. Implementing these little tips above can be helpful in bringing balance to both work and home making it so you can do the things you enjoy.

Give them a try!
